SSAT 16th National Conference & 5th iNet International Conference
Event: SSAT – 16th National Conference & 5th INet International Conference
Date: 26 – 28 November 2008
Venue: ICC, Birmingham
The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) is a leading body for secondary education.
The SSAT seeks to give more young people access to a good secondary education by building networks, sharing practice and supporting schools. The SSAT's way of working is based on the principle 'by schools for schools.' The SSAT is at the heart of a growing network of schools including primary, secondary, special schools and academies. We believe it represents the largest network of its kind in the world.
About the event:
This year the conference will be more interactive and more motivating than before. For the first time the annual iNet conference will be combined with the National Conference – enabling national and international schools to share knowledge and experience at one inspirational event.
This conference will share the varied ways in which different countries approach the redesign of schools and education systems. It will provide opportunities for learning from and with one another and for improving our understanding of, and respect for, differences in redesign.
Conference themes:
• Redesigning learning – developing a 21st century pedagogy with particular emphasis on formative assessment, student leadership, competence-based curriculum and creativity
• Redesigning schooling – a focus on merging of phases, flexible age cohorts, design of buildings, curriculum, flexible time schedules, smaller units within schools and academic / pastoral divide
• Redesigning leadership – exploring how to lead schools effectively in the 21st century, including governance, executive headship, succession planning and distributing leadership.
Who will attend:
Some of the World’s Leading Educational Speakers, academics, Policy Makers and School Leaders around the world.
