Three new qualifications are available from September 2008
- Foundation Project Qualification (FPQ)
- Higher Project Qualification (HPQ)
- Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
What are Project Qualifications?
The project is a standalone, single–unit qualification that forms part of the Generic Learning component of the Diploma. Projects are aimed at all learners undertaking Foundation, Higher or Advanced Diplomas.
How do Project Qualifications compare to other Qualifications?

Assessment objectives
In order to meet assessment objectives, learners need to:
- manage the project
- use resources / undertake research as appropriate to the topic
- develop and realise the project to achieve the planned outcome
- review the project outcomes including own learning and performance.
Learners need to show they can plan, deliver and present a piece of work. The outcome of the project can be a written report, a photographic journal, a piece of art, a DVD or even computer software.
Completion requirements
In order to complete a Project Qualification at any level, learners need to:
- choose a topic of study
- complete a production log to document the project process
- plan, research and carry out their project
- prepare a presentation on the outcome.
